Obituary of Constance L. Knight

CONSTANCE L. KNIGHT, 82, passed away on May 16, 2011 at her residence in Belfast with family members by her side. She was born April 7, 1929 in Camden, Maine, the only child of Oliver A. and Alta Jackson Knight. She spent her childhood in Lincolnville. Eventually her parents moved to Camden, and she graduated from Camden High School in 1947. Constance was employed most recently at Dead River Co. in Belfast. Over the years Connie worked at many resorts, Gasparilla Inn in Florida, Black Point Inn in Scarborough and resorts in Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, Deposit, New York and Damariscotta, Maine. She is survived by her two sons, Kendall O. Merrill and his wife of Florida, Randolph L. Merrill and his wife of Florida, her daughter, Dawn M. Merrill who lived with her in Belfast. She is also survived by cousins, Ruth Knight Zrioka of Appleton, Donald Knight of Portland and Alexis Knight of Center Harbor, New Hampshire. Connie loved her pets, her beloved cats and a parrot named Pete. She loved her flower gardens and the birds who came to her feeders. She was a prolific letter writer who kept in touch with many classmates and friends she met along the way. She will be missed by all those who knew her as well as her family.
