Obituary of Sylvia Black
AUGUSTA -- Sylvia Black, 95, of Augusta died May 20, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center. Sylvia was born in Sidney on May 16, 1916, the daughter of Perley and Ida (Smith) Haskell. She was the youngest and final survivor of 15 children.
Sylvia led an exemplary life of dedication and service to her family, teaching them by example.
She always remarked that she had lived a wonderful life with no regrets and hardly ever an ache or a pain. Her gardening skills, frugality, generosity and love of music are but a few of the qualities she has passed to those she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Bruce Morang, his wife, Martha Morrill, of East Winthrop; her grandson, Noah Morang, of Bangor; and her granddaughter, Molly Morang, of Monmouth; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
At her request, there will be no funeral. Graveside service and interment will take place in late spring at East Winthrop Cemetery.
