BETTY L. SPENCER, 79, passed away in Belfast on May 22, 2011. She was born in Rockland on December 8, 1931, the daughter of Henry and Ellen Rolfe. She worked at local poultry plants, 24 years at Maplewood and eight years at Penobscot. She went back to school at Beal College and then worked at Brown & Crowe law offices for 26 years. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary #3108 and 6131, past state president of VFW Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Boyle of Belfast; three grandchildren, David Boyle II and fiance Lisa Lauterbach of Belmont, Jason Boyle of Waldo, Carl Boyle and wife(?) Julie Shute of Prospect; four great-grandchildren, David, Brianna, Ian and Caitlin; several nieces and nephews.
Private burial will be held at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
