Obituary of Evelyn L. Marriner
EVELYN L. MARRINER, 92, passed away May 22, 2011 at Harbor Hill in Belfast. She was born in Washington, Maine on September 11, 1918, the daughter of Alton and Catherine (Fitzpatrick) Wellman. She moved to Connecticut to work where she studied nursing receiving her LPN license. She worked at State Hospital where she met her husband, Maynard Marriner. Evelyn was an accomplished artist and painter who enjoyed playing golf and shuffleboard. She enjoyed walking, hiking, gardening, cleaning house as well as sewing and reading. She also loved to dance. She was an active member of Searsmont United Methodist Church and a member of Eastern Star in Searsmont where she went through the many chairs of leadership.
She was predeceased by both parents and a son, Vincent Marriner; two sisters and three brothers, Flora Brooker, Celia Flanders, Ernest Wellman, Frederick Wellman, and Estern Wellman. Survivors include her husband of almost 74 years, Maynard Marriner of Belfast; her two daughters, Phyllis Farrington of Rochester, New Hampshire and Nancy Fenderson of Brunswick; sister-in-law Christine Wellman, her brother Owen Wellman and wife Arlene, all of Washington; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. June 14th at Searsmont United Methodist Church with Pastor George Hodgkins officiating.
