Obituary of Lloyd E. Bowden

Lloyd E. Bowden, age 66, passed away on Aug 18, 2011 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. He was born on Feb 13, 1945 to Christine Harrington and Benjamin Bowden in Augusta, Maine. He grew up building race cars with his father before joining the U.S. Navy. Where he was a cook. After the Navy he was a mechanic, truck driver and did sand blasting in Massachusetts where he met the love of his life, Wanda Mae Wysote. After moving back to Maine he worked at B. I.W. for 20 years prior to retirement. Lloyd enjoyed cooking, woodworking, family time, pow-wows and bingo. He was always quick to crack a joke or tell a good story. He could make everybody laugh and had a presence when he entered a room. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never wanted anything in return. He loved traveling to Listuguj, Quebec to visit his extended family. You would always see him donating weekly to local bingo halls or hanging with his sidekick Brooklyn. They always loved taking care of each other. Lloyd married the love of his life Wanda, who he was with for 31 years. Out of those 31 years, he brought her lunch everyday for 17 years. He fell in love with her and the Native American culture, and went to every pow-wow with her. He would always hold her, give her kisses and was the one person that could always make her laugh. Lloyd is watching over (names of family members alive) and many nieces and nephews. He is now with ( names of deceased family members). Lloyd left us with unforgettable memories and life lessons, he will be missed greatly and never forgotten. Friends and family may gather at 341 Bolton Hill Rd in Augusta to remember and celebrate his life. There will be a sacred fire burning for prayer and honoring his memory. You are welcome to come anytime of the day and night. There will be a memorial service at Lloyd and Wanda’s house at 10:30am on Monday, August 22,2011 prior to Lloyd’s service at 1:00pm at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
