Obituary of Kenneth G. Howie

KENNETH G. HOWIE, 84 of Liberty, died September 7, 2011 at Togus VA Hospital. He was born July 13, 1927 in Boston, the son of George and Katherine Howie. He was a career US Army veteran who loved to box while he was in the service. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion in Belfast. Following his service career, he worked for Waldo County Sheriff Department for 27 years as well as the District Court system. He enjoyed reading, loved playing softball, watching baseball especially the Red Sox. He was predeceased by his wife Sheila and is survived by his stepchildren, Clarence “Butch” Brown, Mark Brown, Virginia Wright, close friends, John Palmer and Mary Welch of Liberty; his adopted family where he resided the last few years of his life, Barbara and Richard Arasz; their children Kim and Jeff Snow, Christine and David MacWilliams; grandchildren, Ben, Gabriella and Malachi. Memorial services will be held at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast on Tuesday, September 20th at 11 a.m. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
