Obituary of Jeffery B. Williams
CANAAN -- Jeffery B. Williams, 64, of Canaan passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born May 14, 1947 in Hartland, the son of Lawrence R. and Crystal (Crommett) Williams.
Jeff graduated from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1965, then worked as a truck driver for the Agway Co. in Fairfield until entering and finishing Hanson's Barber School in 1968. He owned and operated Jeff's Barber Shop in Fairfield for 41 years. He was a member of the Fairfield Jaycees and belonged to the Masonic lodge in Canaan for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna; two daughters, Shelley Decker of Waterville and Stacey Hartley of Skowhegan; three grandchildren, Scott Alley Jr., Lacianah Alley and Emily Hartley, all of Skowhegan; one sister, Marilee Caldwell of Pittsfield, and Paul Bertrand; two brothers, Walter and wife Linda of Waterville, and Brian and fiancee Marion Lake of Canaan; many nieces, nephews; and a special person to him, D.J Belanger of Skowhegan.
Jeff was a very special person with a gift of gab and expressed views about the towns he lived and worked in, sometimes in a most comical way. His humorous, understanding ways will be so missed by all who knew and loved him, even a little black Lab who is still waiting to hear, "Ride, Dory, let's go!"
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2012, at Canaan Masonic Lodge on Oak Pond Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine, 477 Congress St., Suite M1, Portland, ME 04101, or website www.maine.wish.org in Jeff Williams' memory.
