Obituary of Candy L. Murphy

BELFAST CANDY L. MURPHY, 57 of Belfast, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 6, 2012. She was born on March 5, 1954 in Belfast to Theodore and Maryanne Harvey. Candy graduated from Belfast Area High School in 1972. She owned and operated several stores in the Liberty and Belfast area with her husband, Ed, one of them being Candy’s Convenience Center which she and her husband owned for many years. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Waldo Community Action Partners for 14 years. Candy enjoyed time with her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren. She spent time gardening, mowing her lawn, volunteering for Waldo County Transportation, fishing and she was known for her wonderful homemaking skills. Her last wish was to be at her daughter, Shanna’s wedding, which came true on January 21st where she was able to spend time dancing, singing and enjoying her family as well as the Superbowl party @ the Hospice Unit Room 214 hosted by her two sons-in-law. She is predeceased by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Freda Murphy; her brothers, Bill and Edgar Heroux; nieces and nephews, Doug, Flip, Robin and Jessica Heroux and James Flye Jr.; brother-in-law Donnie Murphy. Candy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ed Murphy of Belfast; her devoted daughters, Monica Brown and husband Wade of Monroe and Shanna Grindle and husband Gregg of Belfast; her siblings, Ted Heroux and wife Carolyn of Belfast, Philip Heroux and wife Pauline of Belfast, her sisters-in-law Arlene Flye and husband James of Pennsylvania, Sherry Colson of Madison and Gerry Heroux of Belfast; her second mom and sister-in-law Ginger Seekins of Belfast; her beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Madyson, Bryan, Julieanna, Brianna; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, the Love Family of New Hampshire; Edna Cochrane, Diane Robbins, and Susan Mehuren. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 9th. Reception immediately following at the VFW Hall in Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered at www.ripostafh.com. Graveside committal will be held on Monday April 30, 2012 at 11 am at Grove Cemetery Belfast, Me.
