Obituary of Frederick A. Overlock

FREDERICK ARTELL OVERLOCK, passed away February 9, 2012 at Togus after a 5 ½ year fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Freedom September 4, 1948, the fourth child of eight, to Artell and Mary (Spaulding) Overlock. He graduated from Mt. View High School in 1966 and then served for two years in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked for Lee Brothers construction for 40 years. Fred loved hunting, fishing, walking in the woods, playing golf and working on mechanics. He loved playing with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and father in law Floyd Raven Sr. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dee Overlock of Freedom; his two sons, Matthew Raven and wife Kirsten of Unity, Justin Overlock of Freedom; a daughter, Sarah Overlock and companion Dale Suitor of Knox; mother-in-law Julia Raven of Unity; his brothers, Robert and wife Rosemary, Keith and wife Jackie, Lawrence and wife Pamela, Kenneth and wife Diane all of Freedom; sisters, Lorraine Overlock of Freedom, Irene Tibbetts and husband Harold of Jackson, Marie Overlock and Mic Wallf of Lamoine; brothers-in-law Floyd Jr., Mark and Shawn Raven all of Freedom; sisters-in-law June Raven, Jean and Scott Jones of Freedom, Karen and Larry Seehafer of Wisconsin; three very special grandchildren, William Overlock, Zachary and Anna Suitor; many special nieces, nephews and cousins; extra special friend, his dog Whinney, who was by his side till the end. Special thanks to his friends at Freedom General, Lee Bros., Albion, Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Togus VA Hospice Care. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18th at Freedom Church. Family and friends are invited to gather for food and fellowship at Freedom Grange immediately following.In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
