Obituary of Louis Irving Tooley

BELMONT-Louis Tooley 88, died peacefully at his home on July 14th. He left this world surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Medford Massachusetts on October 25th 1923 the son of Harry and Ethel (Quinn) Tooley. After graduating from Medford High School he enlisted in the US Army. He served in the infantry during WW II in the 28th Division also known as the Keystone Division. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and received his purple heart. On February 3rd 1945 he married his "For Keeps" love Edna Bainbridge. Together they made their home and started a family in Reading Mass before moving to Camden Maine. As an arborist he started his career with Bartlett Tree Service in Cambridge Mass. In 1959 he was promoted to District Manager and moved his family to Megunticook Lake in Camden, ME. In 1971 he started the family business Northeast Tree Service and later added Northeast Spray Service. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his boys to the family camp in Rockwood ME. His passion was flying his floatplanes. With his wife at his side, he logged many hours in the air. He also took great pride in his many beautiful gardens at his log cabin he built in Belmont. He could usually be found on his tractor tending to his yard with his buddy Freckles chasing along behind him. He was proud of his family and loved the many "Tooley events". He couldn't resist pinching the cheeks of those grandkids and great grandkids. And the dogs always knew which pocket held the dog biscuits. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years "Eddie". His children John E and his wife Karen Tooley of Camden. Robert F Tooley of Zephyr Hills, Fl. Edward F Tooley and MaryBeth Tooley of Camden. As well as his very special daughter in law Anne Tooley of Camden. He was special to his many grandchildren, Debbie Tooley, Amy Tooley, Patti Lawry, Chris Tooley, Terri Tooley, CathyJo Dodge, John L Tooley, Andrew Tooley, Jenny Tooley, Tracy Bernosky, Roberta Greenleaf, Brogan Tooley and James Tooley. As well as 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph Bainbridge and his wife Cecelia of Lakeland Florida along with many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28th @ 10am at Youngstown Cemetery in Lincolnville, ME with a celebration to follow at his home in Belmont. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kno-Wal-Lin's Hospice and Palliative Care, 170 Pleasant Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
