Obituary of Dorothy Dottie Dyer
DOROTHY “DOTTIE” L. (HAMM) DYER, 75 of Belfast, went home to be with the Lord and joins her husband and son on July 22, 2012 at Belfast. She was born on September 5, 1936 in Swanville, the daughter of Cyrus and Daisy (Arbuckle) Hamm. Dottie worked in Massachusetts as a CNA and in factories in Belfast. She enjoyed traveling very much and she went with her sister, Jean, to see Daniel O’Donnell three times. Dottie was involved in many gospel singing groups in the area, most recently the Silver Saints.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband Roland “Bud” Dyer; her son Donald “Donnie” Dyer; siblings Rudolph, Carl, Billy, Muriel, Celia, Tena, Annie May, and Ethel. Dottie is survived by her loving children, Donna Pelton and husband Scott of Cary, North Carolina, Ellen Murphy and husband Maurice of Bucksport, Wayne L. Dyer and wife Brenda of Madison, Mark Dyer and wife Melinda of Oakland; her siblings, Kathleen Smith and Carlene Carrano, both of Connecticut, Jean Howard of Searsport, Raymond Hamm of Belfast, Lloyd Hamm and wife Ruth of Searsport; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two on the way; a great-aunt Marjorie Wadleigh of Winterport; several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend, Jenny and many others.
Family and friends are invited to call from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 26th with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Interment will immediately follow at Smart Cemetery.
