Obituary of Yeaton D. Randlett

YEATON D. RANDLETT, 91 of Belfast and Englewood, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2012 in Bangor. He was born in Islesboro, Maine on February 25, 1921 to Stanley and Maybell (Wescott) Randlett. He graduated from Islesboro school. Yeaton enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served during WWII. After his service, he attended the University of Maine and began a teaching career and then a teaching principalship in the Islesboro Central school system. Yeaton and his father worked together during summers, and eventually Yeaton owned his own construction business building many houses on the Island. Among his employees were several of his students who remember with gratitude the opportunity to learn new skills and the chance to earn money. He was a wonderful role model. He continued to work in education for many years and keep his building business operational. Yate is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara; his daughter, Pamela Cleveland and her husband James; grandsons, Judson and his wife Patience, Jacob and his wife Morgan, Jeffrey; four great-grandchildren; a niece and several nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Rawson; sisters Elinore and Dorothy. Yeaton was an Episcopalian who attended services at St. Margaret’s in Belfast. A celebration of his life will be held from 11-2 on September 29th at his daughter’s home on Islesboro.
