BATH- Theryl S. Robbins, 93, of Bath, ME died peacefully at the Plant Memorial Home on Sunday, October 14, 2012 after a mercifully brief illness, with his family at his side. Born in Bath on July 20, 1919 to Melville H. and Hazel Crosby Robbins, he was the second of seven children. They include 3 predeceased sisters: Charlotte Shaw, Pauline Cooper, Beverly Pletts, and 3 predeceased brothers: Elwood Robbins, Leon Robbins, and Melville Robbins Jr. Theryl served several months in the Army during WWII, and went on to work as a machinist for 33 years at the Hyde Windlass Company, followed by 10 years at BIW. On February 14, 1941 he married Ferralyn R. Roberts, and they shared 62 years together until her passing in 2003. They loved spending time with their family, especially their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also loved traveling and eventually they became “snowbirds”, sharing time between Punta Gorda, Florida and their beloved “camp” at Sebasco Estates, Maine. Theryl, also known as “Robbie”, enjoyed life and lived it boldly. After Ferralyn died, he continued to enjoy traveling between Maine and Florida. He enjoyed long walks, bowling, flying, dancing, reading, eating out, and attending every bean supper on the schedule. Due to his gregarious nature, he made friends wherever he went. He was a Mason, member of the Solar Star Lodge in Bath, and was an active member of the Bath United Church of Christ during his earlier years. Most recently he attended church services with his community in Florida and at the Small Point Baptist Church in Maine. His survivors include Wayne A. Robbins and his wife, Lynn of Bath; Gail P. Lavergne and her husband, Rick of Sturbridge MA and Punta Gorda FL and Bruce E. Robbins, and his wife Patricia of Hallowell; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchidren, and many nieces and nephews.
