Obituary of Rhoda A. Woodbury

RHODA A. WOODBURY, 92, passed away on November 12, 2012 at her home in Northport. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on December 14, 1919, the daughter of William and Eliza Moses. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs School, she married Osgood Woodbury in August of 1941 with whom she raised five children. After the death of her second husband, Fred Dudley, she returned to the Woodbury Farm on Beech Hill Road, where she lived for the last 22 years of her life. She always referred to the Woodbury Farm as her soul place, especially the blueberry fields, where she spent many happy hours. She was predeceased by her sisters, Winifred Durling, Velma Walker, Della Currie, and by her husbands, Osgood Woodbury and Fred Dudley. Rhoda is survived by her five children, daughter Judy Morello and husband Frank and son David; son Robert Woodbury, wife Judy and son Greg; Daughter Patricia Spencer and husband Ted and their children Jennifer, Matthew,and Lucas; son Thomas Woodbury and life partner Pat and their children Thomas and Sarah along with Tom’s other children Terry,Vicky, Shelley, Derrick, Amanda, Brett; son Billy Woodbury and wife Julie and their children, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Brittany, Christopher and Lilly; numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ardis Abbott and Betty Collins; brother-in-law David Woodbury and nieces June Doherty and Carolyn Walker along with many other nieces and nephews. Rhoda was an active member of Northport Community Church for many years. She played the organ and/or piano every Sunday and for weddings and funerals until her health started to fail. She hosted sunrise Easter services at her home for many years. Rhoda worked for a number of years at the Northport Town Hall and also wrote a Northport community news column for The Republican Journal. The family would like to thank Mary Frenning, Leone Harriman, and Greg Rossner for their many acts of friendship and caring. In addition they want to acknowledge Waldo County Home Health & Hospice for their invaluable care during her last months of life. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
