Obituary of Clara Winona Rolerson
Clara Winona (Bowden) Rolerson died peacefully at home in Union, Maine on November 12, 2012, surrounded by her beloved family. Clara was born on October 22, 1933 in Orrington, Maine to Joyce (Grindle) Bowden and Fred Bowden.
Clara was the valedictorian of her class at Monroe High School in 1951 and enjoyed a lifelong love of reading. She met the love her life, Willard Edmond Rolerson, on Islesboro and began her married life there. (Willard predeceased her in 1987.) She and Willard worked throughout the Camden-Belfast area as house painters, raising their children in the family business.
Eventually, Clara settled on the Higgins Road in Morrill, where she devoted herself to neighbors, friends and family until she moved to Union to be closer to her family, where she enjoyed spending time with family especially her great grand children. Clara is survived by her children, Ruth (Rolerson) St. Laurent, Keith Rolerson, Winona (Rolerson) Leighton, Marshall Rolerson, and Joyce (Rolerson) Hu, her grandchildren, Ben MacDonald, Robin Pease, Amy Denson, Chris Babcock, Ena Lupine, and Alex and Anli Hu, as well as eight great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her fun spirit and lively sense of humor and in the end her peace, grace and undying love.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers would be welcome in Clara’s name to Kno-Wal-Lin hospice or the Union Library.
