Obituary of Kenneth M Hoyt

Kenneth M. Hoyt passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ken was born December 28, 1931 in Cambridge, MA to Leonard W. and Mildred G. (Pearse) Hoyt. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1950 and then attended Northeastern University. He was a member of the MA National Guard. Ken and his family lived in Danvers for 20 years where he served as a Deacon at the First Congregational Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Amity-Mosaic Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Danvers. In 1973 he and his family moved to Worthington, OH where he worked for Tandy Corp and John Hancock. In 2003 he and his wife, Jean moved to Thomaston, ME. where she grew up. He was an exceptional woodworker and could always be found in his workshop. Ken was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind, generous man who will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Hines and Priscilla Gruver. He is survived by his wife, Jean Williams Hoyt of Thomaston; two daughters, Linda Hoyt of Camden and Julie & Robert Sheehan of Warren; two grandchildren, Jennifer Cunningham and Benjamin Wright; one brother, Leonard and Kathy Hoyt of MD; one brother-in-law, Robert and Diane Williams of New Harbor; two beloved dogs, Scooter and Kirby and many, many nieces and nephews. A Masonic graveside memorial service and time to remember Ken will be held in the spring, date will be announced. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Knox County Humane Society. Ken’s family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful staff of Pen Bay Medical Center and KNO-WAL-LIN Hospice Care.
