Obituary of Richard Alexander Klimoff II

Richard Alexander Klimoff II Montville – Richard Alexander Klimoff II, beloved father, brother, friend, recently passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born on November 25, 1950 in Bath, Maine to Helen and Richard Klimoff, officers in the Salvation Army. The family was on the move during his early life, living in Bath, ME; Concord, NH; Lowell, MA; Fall River, MA; and New Britain, CT. Rich graduated from New Britain High School and attended NYU, Naropa Institute, and Central Connecticut State College. In the mid 1970’s, Rich moved to Montville during the “back to the land” movement of hippies and farmers. He fell in love with the area, the beautiful forests and the wonderful friends nearby. In spite of the challenges of rural, rustic living, he never wanted to move away. Rich’s beautiful daughter Lauren was born and raised there, and it was simply home. Rich was a skilled self-employed carpenter. He had a marvelous sense of humor, a kind heart, and a good soul. He enjoyed the Salvation Army brass band music; his grandmother’s stories of his Swedish heritage and his mother’s Swedish coffee bread; and many summers at the family cottage in Old Orchard Beach. Rich was predeceased by his parents, and his nephew Owen Klimoff. He is survived by his daughter Lauren Klimoff of Portland, OR; his siblings, Ingrid Klimoff (and Charles Hornig), Dorothy Klimoff (and Richard Flanagan), and Erik Klimoff (and Carol Klimoff); his aunt Dot Allen of Vero Beach, FL; his cousin Joseph Zloch of Boston, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial celebration is planned for 2 pm Saturday, February 9th at the home of Leslie Staples, 40 Patterson Hill Rd, Belfast, ME. A potluck dinner will follow.
