Obituary of Elmer E Leigh

Elmer Eugene Leigh Sr, 63, of Washington, passed away March 8, 2013 surrounded by loved ones after a long well fought battle with cancer. Elmer was the son of the late Archie and Lucille (Prescott) Leigh. He was a lifelong resident of Washington. Elmer married Wanda Collins August 26, 1971 and they raised three children together. Throughout his life he worked for CJ Brann and son running a saw mill and a garage for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, anything to do with the outdoors, working on small engines, snowmobiling in the winter as well as four wheeling and motorcycles in the spring, summer and fall. In his later years, Elmer loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his three children: Shane of Chelsea, Elmer Jr of Washington and Danny of Washington, and their mother Wanda Masir of Pittson; 8 grandchildren: Danielle, Sierra, Jason, Matthew, Ashley, Sean, Dylan, Shena and her significant other Cameron whom is expecting Elmer’s first great granddaughter Avah Marie Wilson; 5 brothers: William “Tinkie” and his wife Linda of Jefferson, Alfred and Linda of Washington, Earl of Washington, James and his wife Darlene of Jefferson, Carl and his wife Nancy of Washington, Richard of Washington; one sister Lucille of Jefferson and a sister in law Arlene Condon of Washington. Elmer also leaves behind his “sidekick” and best friend Chewy. He was predeceased by his brother Maurice Condon Sr. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10-11 am Wednesday March 13, 2013 at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am.
