Obituary of Laura B. Lewis

Laura B. Lewis, age 86 of Gray, died peacefully on Friday, April 5th at Mercy Hospital in Portland. She was surrounded by family who had gathered to share their love and memories. She was born in Portland on March 4, 1927, the daughter of Alfred Sr. and Grace Seavey Milliken, one of 11 children. She attended Portland schools and was a 1946 graduate of Deering High School. On October 12, 1947, she married Eugene Lewis. In 1955, the family moved to Yarmouth, ME, where she lived until her husband's death in 2006. She then enjoyed many more years on the property she shared with her son and daughter-in-law on Crystal Lake in Gray. Her final year was spent at The Cedars in Portland. Laura's greatest joy was feeding people, and she was always happiest when cooking for others. She had a sweet smile, an impish spirit, and a hidden wit. She never had a mean thought about anyone. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Susan Storrs. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Lewis of Gray, her granddaughter, Jocelyn Deschene of Williston, SC, her granddaughter-in-law, Tonya Gagne of Gray, her grandson, James Storrs, two sisters, Selma Wilber of Saco and Eunice Hurd of Falmouth, one brother, Alfred Milliken Jr. of Portland, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cedars, 630 Ocean Avenue, Portland, ME 04103.
