Obituary of Jill Merie Wight
JILL MERIE (WOODBURY) WIGHT, 35, passed away holding hands with her devoted husband and with her parents at her side while in Hospice at Waldo County General Hospital on April 10, 2013 following a courageous life-long illness. Born June 14, 1977 to Brian and Cheryl (Thibodeau) Woodbury, she attended and graduated from Belfast High School, Class of 1996. September 17, 1997 she married David Alan Wight and together they raised a variety of farm animals, dogs and cats. After successful completion of training held at Maine State Criminal Justice Academy, on April 13, 2005 Jill was awarded APU Operator Certification while working at WCRcc as a 911 dispatcher.
Jill will be especially remembered for her compassion and caring of others. Jill held a special place in her heart for love and care of animals. She loved to take horse rides with her horses, Smokey, Chucky and Cambra. Jill was a member of the Beagles of New England States (BONES). She found many years of joy and happiness in fostering 79 rescue beagles while being out of work.
She is survived by her dedicated husband, Deputy Fire Chief David Wight; beloved beagles Cindy, Daisy and Chante; her parents Brian and Cheryl Woodbury; grandmother Nellie Woodbury; brother James Woodbury and wife Jamie; nieces, Oralee, Opal and nephew Owen all of Morrill; grandparents Ray and Rose Thibodeau of Bradley; mother-in-law Elizabeth Wight of Bucksport; uncles Kerry and Pat Woodbury, Steve and Dale Thibodeau, both of Bangor, Bruce and Lynne Thibodeau of NH; aunts Faith Woodbury of PA, Sandra Thibodeau and Chris Benette of Bradley; cousins Wendy McCarthy and Joe, Beth and Kim Woodbury and Amy and Matt Nye, all of Bangor; special friends, Bill and Lisa Gillespie, Sonja Salvatore, Heidi Hurd and many others. Jill was preceded in death by her grandfather Blaine P. Woodbury and uncle Wendall “Jack” Woodbury.
A celebration of Jill’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday April 27th at Morrill Baptist Church, 2 South Main Street, Morrill officiated by Pastor Jim Culbertson. Interment will be held at Morrill Village Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with family at 1 p.m. at Morrill Baptist Church preceding the services and for refreshments following interment.
The family would like to thank support from the staff of WCGH, EMMC, MMC, Tufts Medical Center, Dr. Maycock, Dr. Ward, Dr. Ma, staff of Waldo County Home Health & Hospice, Life Flight and Waldo County Firefighters, EMS and Gregory Dutch.
