Obituary of Vera Whitcomb

Vera V. Whitcomb, 75, of Monroe passed away Wednesday April 10, 2013 in Newburgh surrounded by her daughters and family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Newburgh a daughter of the late Burt and Sarah (Naas) Veino. Vera was a stitcher for many years at Evan’s Shoe Factory and also worked various other shoe factories. She enjoyed sewing, bird watching, traveling to Texas to be with her son and most of all spending time with her family. Vera is survived by her children: Lorita Mayo and her husband Donald of Newburgh, Stuart Whitcomb of Texas and Sarah Whitmore and her husband Roger of Ellsworth; 3 grandchildren: Carla, Barbie and Anthony; 2 great-grandchildren: Cassidy and Zachary; her brother Vernon Veino and his wife Marion of Newburgh and 4 step children: Dwight, Ron, Linda and Leo; She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and her cat Rusty. She was predeceased by her husband in 2003 Carl R Whitcomb, her siblings: Herbert Veino and Selma Veino. Vera’s children would like to thank their mother for being the best mother to them all. Memorial donations may be made in Vera’s memory to the Dixmont Community Church.
