Obituary of Colleen Marie Slater

Colleen Marie Slater, 80, of Millinocket, ME went home to the Lord on April 11, 2013 after a long illness. In death, as in life, she played the cards she was dealt without complaint. She enjoyed her final weeks with her family by her side and went peacefully in their company. She was born in Millinocket, the daughter of Everett and Margaret (Cummings) Rush. She spent time in Connecticut and Virginia before returning home 25 years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing her 4 children, Larry and Maureen Slater of Shelton CT, Linda Glover of San Antonio TX, Michael and Monica Slater of Bellflower CA, and Neil and Elena Slater of Simpsonville SC; 10 grandchildren, Joseph Slater of Milford CT, Lawrence III and Rachel Slater of Shelton CT, Stacey Glover of San Antonio TX, Kevin and LaRisha Glover of Fort Leonard Wood MO, Michael Jr. and Melissa Slater of Bellflower CA, Dylan and Erin Slater of Simpsonville SC, and Christopher and Hannah Slater of Charlotte NC; 4 great-grandchildren Kavian, Khyla, and Kaleb Glover and Deja Walker; her brothers, Clayton and Helen Rush and Everett and Marge Rush of Bonita Springs, FL; her sister Kathleen McAtee and sister-in-law Donna Rush of Millinocket ME; her nephews and nieces especially Rick McAtee of Tucson AZ, Bob and Pat McAtee of Lewiston ME, and Madeline and Jim Macomber of Sebec ME; her loyal friend Julie Columbo; and all her friends at Meals for Me. She was predeceased by her parents Everett and Margaret Rush, her brothers Henry and William Rush and her daughter Darlene Slater-Cote. The family would like to thank Dr. Herbert and all the nurses and nurse assistants at Millinocket Regional Hospital for the care and compassion Colleen received. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16th, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket.
