Obituary of Alberta Clara Rumney
ALBERTA C. RUMNEY, 90, born March 9, 1923 in Belfast, Maine, died peacefully in the Penobscot Nursing Home on May 16, 2013. Daughter of Martin and Lena Heal Gray, she was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Ralph W. Rumney and four sisters, Glenis, Christine, Doris and Alice; and one niece Marilyn Durkee.
Alberta is survived by her son, Richard Rumney and wife Claire of Belfast; grandchildren Tammy Curtis and husband Lawrence, Jeffrey Rumney and wife Olga, Mark Rumney and wife Suzette all of Belfast; great-grandson Shane Rumney of Belfast; step-grandson Michael Rumney and wife Jamie of Knox, step-granddaughter Aurora Rumney of Belfast; step-great-granddaughters Eliana and Olivia Rumney of Knox and Charlotte Rumney of Belfast; one niece Wilma Moses; one great-nephew Larry Moses and wife Sandra of Belfast; niece Barbara Grass and husband Merle of Belfast; and two great-nieces Susan Lessard of Hampden and Jane Brown of Liberty and Texas; one great-niece Brenda Campbell and husband George. She also has two very special people whom she thought of as her children, Gil and Louise Lanctot.
Clara, as she was known to most people, grew up and was educated in Belfast. She worked very hard with her husband, Ralph, with a pair of horses in the woods as well as the shoe factory and Frozen Food Locker. She also served many years as school crossing guard.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, May 25th at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Friends wishing to make donations may contribute to a charity of their choice in Clara’s memory.
