Obituary of Linda Lilette Lord

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
LINDA LILLETTE LORD MACHIAS- Linda Lillette Lord, 52, joined her beloved parents in heaven on May 20, 2013. Linda was born in Ellsworth on January 22, 1961 to Vernon M. Lord and Patricia A. Rier. She was a 1980 graduate of Machias Memorial High School. She cherished the times she spent boating with her father and siblings. Linda enjoyed many evenings at her home sitting around talking with Dad and her brothers. As Dad’s illness progressed, Linda would accompany him to Bangor to his doctor appointments. Linda and her mother were more like best friends than mother/daughter. She always chauffeured Mom around, whether it was in Maine or out-of-state. As Mom’s arthritis worsened, Linda would bring her to doctor appointments from Bangor to Portland. They also enjoyed many overnight times together at Hollywood Slots. As Mom’s health declined, Linda became one of her caregivers, which was not an easy task. Linda missed Mom and Dad tremendously and their deaths affected her own health. Her love of people was self-evident when she was employed as a cashier at the A&P and McKean’s Variety store in Machias in the 1990’s. She loved to talk to all the customers as she was cashing them out. Linda loved animals, whether domesticated or wild. She enjoyed watching the wildlife outside her home. Linda was an avid fisherman and often went fishing by herself. She also loved fishing, camping and just hanging out with Kathy and Gary Magee. Linda spent many enjoyable evenings with Ted and Janine Gramlich and their children for cookouts and sitting around the fire pit sharing stories. Although Linda had no children, she loved and considered Benjamin Gramlich and Tabitha Gramlich Stewart her kids even when they became adults. She also spent time at Jasper Beach with Kim, Renee and Keri Pelletier just enjoying the beauty of that beach. Her neighbors, Donald and Ellen Mallar, would have hot dog roasts throughout the summer and Linda would join them for many fun evenings reminiscing. She had a great sense of humor and loved to share stories with her friends. Linda was a good and fun-loving aunt with a big heart and loved children. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and enjoyed being with them. When Linda’s nieces Tricia and Crista Greenier were young children, they often stayed overnight her. Linda was a huge music lover and could name the artist and song immediately. She was the go-to person if you wanted to know who sang what. She especially loved Stevie Nicks and attended many, if not all, of her concerts held in New England throughout the years. July 10, 2012 was the last Stevie Nicks show Linda attended. It was on the Boston waterfront and Stevie reached out to fans and touched hands with a few of them. Linda was one of those fans. She was so excited and just glowed. Linda was in heaven then just as she is now. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Linda is survived by her siblings, Vernon E. Lord and wife Catherine of Machias; Cynthia A. Greenier and husband Daniel of Welshpool, N.B.; Diane M. Lord of Saco, Douglas M. Lord of Eastport, and Gary Moores and wife Linda of Lubec; nieces and nephews, Daniel Greenier and wife Genesis; Davern Greenier, Patricia Greenier, Crista Hatt and husband Troy; Daine Greenier, Tayla Greenier, Van Lord, Chase Lord, Maximus Lord Bard, Zoe Baxter, Lucy Lord, Enzo Lord; great-nieces and great-nephews as well as two aunts; one uncle; many cousins; and her friends, including Kathy and Gary Magee, Janine and Ted Gramlich, Cindy Foss, Tommy Bridges, Bobby Mallar, Ellen Mallar, Kim Pelletier, Sandy Bryand, Thelma Thompson, and Carlene Holmes. And last but not least, she leaves behind her two beautiful cats, Asia and Lourdes (yes, named after Madonna’s daughter!). She was predeceased by her father in 2006, and her mother in 2010. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olson Cemetery in Lubec, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Linda would have appreciated donations to local animal or wildlife shelters. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast, ME. On-line condolences may be left at www.ripostafh.com.
