Obituary of Luthera Evelyn Oberheim
Luthera Evelyn Stoumbelis Oberheim was born February 8, 1918 in Holyoke MA, the
daughter of Martin and Elsie Gollenbusch. Evelyn attended Belchertown High School
and graduated from Becker College in Worcester, MA. She married Cles Stoumbelis in
1940 and he passed away in 1955. She was an "at-home" Mom until his death. She
worked for Swett Bros Oil Company in Springfield, MA until her marriage to Les
Oberheim in 1970. She retired when she moved to Maine in 1971. Lester died in 2004.
She has three daughters, Katherine Jones of Swanzey, NH, Evelyn Bennett of Wilbraham.
MA, and Geri Herbster of Brunswick, ME, a stepson Allan Oberheim of Drury, MA, five
grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several step
grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters Arna
Rydell of Springfield, MA and Lena Davis of Belchertown, MA and her brother, Dana
Gollenbusch of Yuba City, CA, and a stepdaughter Ann Sybil Harmon of Venice, FL.
Evelyn loved to cook and grow flowers. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the
birds while gazing out on the Belgrade Stream. She was an avid reader and enjoyed
playing cards and bowling. One of her favorite quotes was "Do good today because you
might not be here tomorrow".
There will be a memorial service at Old South Church in Belgrade, ME. In lieu of
flowers, please make a donation to Shriners1 Hospital in Springfield, MA. Burial will be
in Hillcrest Cemetery, Springfield, MA at the family's convenience.
