Obituary of Mary Margaret Burke

Mary Margaret Burke 74, of Augusta, ME passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at home. She was born in White Plains, NY on December 18, 1938 to John and Eva (Bourgeois) Burke and moved to Norwalk, CT when she was four, residing there until she moved to Granite Hill Estates in Augusta in 2007. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, Ct. and earned a BS of Science at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Ct. in 1980. She was employed by the Perkin-Elmer Corporation in Wilton, CT for 34 years followed by 15 years at the Silicon Valley Group/ASML in Ridgefield, CT retiring in 2004. While in CT. she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. In Maine she volunteered at Maine General Hospital in the Risk department. Mary was proficient in knitting, weaving, stained glass, quilting, caning, and rug hooking much to the benefit of her friends and family. Mary is survived by her sister Joan Burke Fedor of Wells, ME, two nieces; Suzanne Martino and Kathryn Cappiello and a nephew Michael Fedor , four grand nieces Ashley and Kayla Martino and Harvest and Raven Fedor all of CT. Mary also is survived by many beloved cousins in New Brunswick, Canada with whom she spent many memorable childhood summers. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Granite Hill Estates on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s church in Wells on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M.
