Obituary of Ronald Allen Bryant
Reverend Ronald (Ron) Allen Bryant, 64, currently of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2013 surrounded by his family. He joined his Lord after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in 1949, the youngest of 12, to Austin Bryant and Geneva Morse Bryant, both of Belmont, Maine. Ron spent his childhood in his hometown and graduated from Belfast Area High School in 1968. In 1969 he married his sweetheart Linda Woodbury of Belmont. Together they had 3 children, Jennifer, Kristy and Craig. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda, their beloved children Jennifer Bryant of Cleveland, Tennessee, Kristy Trice and her husband Gary of Augusta, Maine, Craig Bryant and his wife Nikki of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and their cherished grandchildren Caleb Bryant, Micah Trice, and Zechariah, Gabriel and Abigail Bryant. He also leaves behind 4 siblings, Katherine Bryant Spaulding, Avis Bryant Hall, Virginia Bryant Whitney, and Lloyd Bryant and his wife Dorothy, and their children, Ronald’s nieces and nephews, all of Maine.
Ron graduated from Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Auburn, Maine, and was a founding partner of A, R & L Builders. He was ordained as a Minister of the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee, and he was both the builder and founding pastor of The Christian Ridge Church of God in Ellsworth, Maine. He was called to pastor the West Warwick (Rhode Island) Church of God and then the Groton (Connecticut) Church of God, at which he enjoyed the Senior Pastor position for 10 years. Ron held many roles (e.g., State Council, District Overseer, World Mission Representative, Church of God Chaplain, etc.) before relocating to Cleveland, Tennessee to complete his Master’s Degree in Counseling. While there, he enjoyed his studies, his disaster relief work at Operation Compassion, and his Chaplaincy position at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Subsequent to receiving his degree, he accepted a Substance Abuse Counselor position at Peniel Ministries in Johnstown, Pennsylvania where he will be deeply missed.
Ron dearly loved his wife and partner Linda and his children were perpetually in his heart. He loved and served his Lord, his family, and his community, wherever life took him. He was a craftsman, especially in carpentry/woodworking, a sportsman with a special affinity for fishing, and a conversationalist extraordinaire. Words cannot possibly express the void in our hearts.
The family is forever grateful to the professionals at the Conemaugh Healthcare System for their care and kindness to Ron and his family. Likewise, the blessings and support provided by the loving folks at Peniel Ministries was and is beyond extraordinary.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at the Faith Temple Church of God (193 Lincolnville Ave Belfast, ME 04915 207-338-3473). In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron’s memory can be made to Peniel Ministries (760 Cooper Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906 814-536-2111). Interment will be held at Morrill Village Cemetery in Morrill, Maine immediately following the memorial service. Online condolences may be offered to the family at ripostafh.com.
