She inspired and baked the theater’s signature macaroon cookies and was always baking something for one of the many organizations in town. She was a James Taylor fan and recently had started to sew at home again. She loved taking her walks on Route 7 with her friends Margie and Liz. Ellen’s most recent joy was working at the Varney Thrift Store, where she shared some wonderful moments with her volunteer co-workers. She contributed many hours working at the store and was a major factor in the store’s surprising success. She was much loved and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of the volunteers there. Burial arrangements will be coordinated by Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, Maine. Ken Davenport of Brooks will officiate at a memorial supper at the Varney Memorial Building in Brooks, at 4 pm., Saturday, November 2nd.
