Obituary of Lawrence F Lynch

Lawrence Francis Lynch (Lonny), 77, died peacefully after a long illness, on December 21, 2013 at Mars Hill Rehabilitation Unit. He was born on December 27, 1935, in Fort Fairfield the son of Edward Michael and Hilda (Williams) Lynch. Lonny graduated from Fort Fairfield High School before serving three years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He met Mona M. Levesque, his bride of 54 years, while attending Husson College. After graduating from Husson they settled in Fort Fairfield where they raised their family of four children. Lonny loved reading, gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was one of several people that was involved in the establishment of the Helen P. Knight School for Cerebral Palsy in Northern Maine which was eventually mainstreamed into the public school system. Lonny was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an accountant and the Assistant Office Manager at the Fort Fairfield A & P before teaching accounting, economics, taxation, and history for twenty-five years at Northern Maine Community College. He changed countless lives of his students who went into the accounting profession all over Maine. It was always his greatest desire to farm. He accomplished this for nine years while continuing to teach and raise a family. Lonny is survived by his wife Mona; four children, Laura and her husband Serge Roy of Barrow-in-Furness United Kingdom, Barbara and her husband Mark Biscone of Lincolnville Center, Maine; Matthew and his wife Stephanie Lynch of Crestview, Florida; Stephen and his wife Sherri Lynch of Del City, Oklahoma; two sisters Edwena and her husband Richard Gagnon of Fort Fairfield and Elaine and her husband John Thomas of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-laws Rolande Lynch, Florence Lynch, Inez Lynch and brother-in-law Richard Ferland; sixteen grand-children and nine great grandchildren. Lonny is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Clement, Clarence and Gene Lynch, and his sister Mary Ferland. Lonny, devoted husband, father and friend loved spending time with his family and grandchildren over the years. He will be remembered as always having a good story, a great respect for education and love of family Per Lonny's request, there will be no wake or calling hours. The family invites relatives, friends, and former students to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Denis Catholic Church, 143 Main St., Fort Fairfield at 11:00 am on December 27, 2013. A reception will immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Fairfield. A private burial will be at Caribou Veterans Hall.
