Obituary of Stephen C. MacDougall

Stephen C. MacDougall, 89, of Westford, MA, passed away Jan. 8, 2014 at his daughter's home in East Machias, ME. Born Nov. 27, 1924, son of Allister F. and Edna (Comins) MacDougall, Steve spent his childhood in Carlisle, MA, moving to Westford in 1939. He graduated in the class of 1942 from Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, where he became an avid skier.... later running the Westford Ski Tow on Boston Road for several years in the 1950s and 60s. Steve served as an aviation gunnery instructor in the US Navy during WWII. A graduate of Franklin Technical Institue with a major in photography, he was employed by Eastman Kodak Stores in Boston for many years. Steve and his family have enjoyed spending summers on Robbins Island, Essex, MA, and for the past few years, winters in Delray Beach, FL. Steve is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Shirley (Burne), his children Robert and wife Patty of Easton, MD; Peter and wife Christina of Kodiak, AK; Alexander of Quincy, MA; Cynthia Ryoko and her husband Francis Spinks of Cambridge, MA; Elizabeth Pingree and husband Karlton of East Machias, ME; his grandchildren Mary (and Matt) Curnen of Chesapeake, VA; Andrew (and Cynthia) MacDougall of San Diego, CA; Jennifer, Ian and Ross MacDougall of Fairbanks, AK; Alexandra and Suzannah Spinks of New York and Cambridge, MA; Eliza, Graham and Nigel Pingree of East Machia, ME and Marian Pingree of Nantucket; a great granddaughter Lily MacDougall of San Diego, CA: several neices and nephews; many cousins, in-laws and friends. Steve was predeceased by his sister Louise and brothers Gordon and Sandy. A Service of Remembrance will be held by the family in the spring.
