Obituary of Ruth Elms Webber

RUTH ELMS WEBBER, 91, died on March 3, 2014 in Belfast. She was born on January 31, 1923, the daughter of True H. Elms and Ida (Robinson) Elms. Ruth graduated from Crosby High School in 1941. She worked in the Colonial Theater and at Stinson’s Sardine Packing Factory before moving with her husband, Wayne, first to Portland and later to Falmouth. While in Falmouth, she was a member of the Falmouth Extension and the Falmouth Congregational Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed doing many different crafts, reading and spending time with her family and her Scottish Terriers. After Wayne’s death in 1976, Ruth moved back to Belfast where she was a caretaker for two elderly ladies, volunteered at Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Waldo County Hospital Aide. Her parents and husband, Wayne, predeceased Ruth. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Hendrickson and her husband Eric of Presque Isle; two grandchildren, Melissa Hendrickson and her husband Kevin Casey of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kyle Hendrickson and his wife, Lauren of Eaton, Australia; her sister Shirley Walker and husband Linwood of Belfast; a special nephew, Michael Cressey, his wife Mary Wright and their two children Truman and Lauren Cressey of Grantham, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local animal shelter, the Waldo County General Hospital Aide or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
