Obituary of Millie Sylvester

MILDRED “MILLIE” SYLVESTER – It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. M. Millie Sylvester passed away March 5, 2014 after a long illness. She was born in Searsport, Maine on September 18, 1924, a daughter of John and Sadie Dyer Merry. She graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast. She also graduated from Bible school in Appleton, Maine. At the age of two weeks, her parents took her to the Searsport Full Gospel Church which she has attended most of her life. At a very young age she began writing songs and poetry for almost every occasion. She sang and played the guitar in many churches, also in nursing homes and for many events. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Washburn Sylvester; five sons Paul, David, Danny and wife Nellie, Michael and wife Pat, Peter and wife Sandra; a brother Ervin Merry, a sister Ruthie Robbins; grandchildren, Jeremy, Samantha and John, Kathleen and Chris, Joshua and Cindy, Henry and Sinjta, Matthew, Marc and Rachael; great-grandchildren, John, Maria, Madison, Noah, Orion, Azuriah, Phineas, Keira, Cameron, Devon and Zishe, Austin; foster grandchildren David and Jeannie; sisters-in-law Faustina Merry, Delores Merry, Barbara Merry Davis. She is predeceased by her parents; infant sister Shirlene Carol; infant grandchildren Elizabeth and Andrew Sylvester; sisters Ina Moulton and Marie Opdahl; brothers Earl, John and Elwood; a very special nephew H. Peter Robbins; brothers-in-law Herman Robbins, Irving Moulton and Alex Opdahl.
