Obituary of George F. Patrick Sullivan

George F. Patrick Sullivan 1933-2014 Palermo, Maine George “Chick” Sullivan, 81, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Togus Springs Hospice in Augusta, Maine. He was born in Morristown, N.J. George attended Bayley School in Morristown and then served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Coral Sea. He retired from the Morristown Fire Department in 1988 and moved to Palermo, Maine. George was a member of the Sheepscot Fish & Game Club, as well as, the Portage Snowmobile Club. An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling especially at his camp in Portage, Maine. He was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. He was predeceased by his parents John and Susan (Dabinett) Sullivan and brother John “Jack” Sullivan. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha (Bell) Sullivan, of Palermo; his children Susan Clifford and her husband, Michael of Harding Twp., N.J., Sandra Goodson and her husband, Stephen, of Rockaway Twp., N.J. and Michael Sullivan of Mendham Twp., N.J.; his loving grandchildren who “made him so proud”- Michael, Thomas and Erin Clifford, Megan Goodson, and Colleen Sullivan; Sisters Connie Behre, Betty (Herb) Zabel and sister-in-law, Katherine Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 10:30 am at Hannan Cemetery in Palermo. At noon, relatives and friends are invited to the Sullivan home to share memories. A Memorial Mass will also be held on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Christ the King, New Vernon, New Jersey. The family is very grateful for the compassion they have received during the past year from the staff of Togus Springs Hospice, Maine General Hospice, as well as, caring friends.
