Obituary of Ida M. Dyer

Belfast Ida M. Dyer, 90, died after a short battle with cancer on May 7, 2014 at her daughter Faye’s home. She was born on September 25, 1923 to Ralph H. Whitcomb and Lillian G. (Wilton) Whitcomb in Waldo. She was one of 15 brothers and sisters. Ida was a full time home maker and with her husband, Robert, ran the Wagon Wheel Trading Post on Marsh Road until his death January 29, 2004. She was a very independent and strong person. She never complained about being sick or in pain even at the end of her life. She was always a courageous spirit with such a small physical presence. She enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas and being with family and the excitement of exchanging gifts and decorating. She enjoyed sewing, yard sales and collecting a variety of items. She always had country music playing whenever she was home. Her daughters will greatly miss her daily phone calls. She is survived by daughters; Roberta Martin and her husband Dick; Marilyn Dyer; Faye Cuzner and her husband Leonard, sisters; Ella Bowden, Gertrude Whitcomb and Eleanor Stratton; brother William; grandchildren, Teresa, Tammy, Tracy, Sandra, Sheila, Stephen, Samuel, Seth, John II, Michelle, Kimberly and Krystal; several great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Robert; daughter, Beverly; brothers, Freemont, Eli, Frank, Carl, Lewis, Richard and Robert Whitcomb; sisters, Alice Marshall, Eva Greenwood and Hazel Gallant. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Monday, May 12 at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
