Obituary of Nancy L. French

SOMERVILLE – Nancy L French, 67, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on May 9, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born at home in Oakland, Maine on October 25, 1946, the daughter of Verne and Margaret (Bickford) George. One of her proudest accomplishments was graduating from Williams High School in 1965. Mom was a hard worker, well known for her loyalty and dedication to her job. From chicken factories, Gee’s farm, The Frame Factory, the Button Factory, Sylvania’s, SCI and Sam’s Club she always worked her hardest and helped everyone she could. She truly took pride in her work. Mom loved her family more than anything else. She had big family BBQ’s, camping, fishing, hunting, she did it all. She had a way of making the holidays special sometimes with next to nothing. She would prepare huge meals and her famous donuts for the hunters. Pool parties all summer long. She babysat so many children over the years. Mom decorated so many Wedding cakes with her sister-in-law Mary. There were so many close friends that she has loved over the years. Her biggest passion was her children and her Grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives she made an impact on. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, brother Andrew George, sister Alice Berard and her husband Wallace, her love of her life, James French, mother-in-law, Eunice Hill, sister-in-law, Helen Tabor; brother-in-law, David French, brother-in-law, Brian Lamoreau; and her close cousins and friends, Bruce French, Sally Page, Al Page, and Leroy Weaver. She is survived by her son, Frank French, of Somerville; her daughter, Christina (French) Goulet and her partner, Michael Pushard Jr. of Vassalboro; her son, Wayne French, of Oakland; sister Frances (George)Doyon and husband Leon of Belgrade; sister Stella (George) Swett and husband Howard of Oakland; sister-in-law Yvette Bard of Winslow, brother-in-law Merle French and wife Mary of Somerville; brother-in-law Thomas French of Somerville; sister-in-law Ellen (French) Barney and husband David of Augusta; Sister-in-law Judith French of Somerville; brother-in-law, John Tabor, of Farmingdale; her very close friends, Michael Berry and Donna Hartzog, of Mexico; Mista’ Tesseo of Washington; her granddaughters, Alexandria Goulet and Jessika Goulet and their Father John Goulet of Vassalboro; Granddaughter Amanda Brown and her daughter Nicole Brown of Augusta; She is also survived by her good friend and caregiver Penny Kochakian of Somerville and her children, Steven Smart and Jayne Smart and her daughter Ariah of Vassalboro as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of life will be held on June 8th at 6:30 PM at the American Legion Hall in Augusta, officiated by Janice Hisler. A special thank-you to Penny Kochakian who cared for Mom night and day throughout this journey, Thank-you to all the doctors and staff at Maine General Health Center in Augusta, especially Dr. Knupple ”Dr. Ross” for being so wonderful and caring, you truly made a difference in our lives. A HUGE thank-you to Ana Berry, her hospice nurse, for all the compassion and love. Thank you each and every one of you for helping our family through this painful journey. We will always cherish the love and prayers you have shared. Arrangements are under the direction of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
