Obituary of Elizabeth M Mosher

Elizabeth M. Mosher, 93, passed away at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills on Saturday, June 28, 2014 after a short illness. She was born in Montreal, Canada on October 15, 1920, the daughter of Erwin A. and A. Bertha (Laws) Adams. Elizabeth graduated from Natick High School in Natick, MA in 1937 and later graduated from Miss Michauds Secretarial School in 1938. She moved to Northport in 1947 and married Hugh R. Mosher in 1950 and together they moved to Belfast. Elizabeth began her career working at Depositors Trust, and then worked as a secretary at Penobscot Poultry and eventually working for the law offices of Eaton, Glass and Marsano, before retiring. After retirement she spent the next 30 years working on town records and family histories as she had inquires from all over the United States. She was nominated for the Jefferson Award in 1991 for her work. Elizabeth worked on vital records at the Penobscot Marine Museum for many years. She also loved to work in her flowers gardens. Elizabeth and her husband traveled all over the State of Maine. She was an avid artist as some of her paintings are placed around the community. Elizabeth is survived by two sons, John Mosher and wife Barbara of Augusta, Kenneth (Kenny) Mosher of The Villages, FL, a step-daughter Letitia Downer and husband Allen of Thorndike, and a step son Ralph Mosher and wife Lois of South Windsor, CT; six grandchildren Jeffrey Mosher of Lincolnville, Mark Mosher of Plantation FL, Scott Mosher of Melbourne, FL, Ken Mosher Jr. of Ocklawha, FL, Donald Mosher of Manahawkin, NJ and Kevin Mosher of Sitka, AK; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews and a sister in law Alice Adams of NH. Along with her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, her sister Dorothy M Caswell and brother Donald A. Adams, and her special dog Lady Bug. A private service will be held for the family.
