Obituary of Barbara Mosher
The author of this obituary, Barbara R. Mosher, will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
BARBARA RUTH (ESTEY) (VOSBURGH) MOSHER, 70, passed away on July 30, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on December 21, 1943, the daughter of Vincent “Randy” Estey and Mildred (Doughty) Estey.
Barbara graduated from Crosby High School in the Class of 1961. She attended Washington State Teachers College and Capitol Beauty School. She graduated from there in May 1963. On June 29, 1963 she married Paul Vosburgh Jr. She was employed at George’s Beauty Shop in Belfast before she and Paul moved to Tampa, FL. She gave birth to two daughters, Kimberly and Melissa, in Florida before the family moved back to Belfast in 1968. She was employed as a secretary at Crosby Jr. High School in Belfast for many years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Cottles Supermarket and as a receptionist for Euclid Hanbury, M.D. She returned to MSAD #34 as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She moved on as the office manager and intake coordinator for 20 years at Midcoast Mental Health Center. Upon leaving this employment, she worked briefly at Atlantic Home Health as the office manager and then became a caretaker at a residential home for Coastal Workshop in Rockport. She also worked part-time for PALS as a caretaker/PCA for elderly people in Camden who enriched her life in many ways. She was a home provider for those who need shelter and a loving environment to allow them “to be all that they could be”. Barbara grew with each caretaking job she pursued and actually felt that instead of becoming “the teacher”, she grew more and more knowledge from them and eventually became the “student”.
Barbara was devoted to her family and loved caretaking, gardening, bird watching and wildlife. Her family was her life. She was a loving, caring and involved parent to her daughters by being there for all of their life experiences: a Girl Scout leader for both daughters, attending all sports events and other extra-curriculum activities that they were involved in, being a chaperone for the Shrine Circus, being with both girls on the exchange band trips out of state, whale watching trips and all other school-related activities. In 1978 she married John E. Mosher and spent 20 years raising her two daughters and three stepchildren, Scott, Mark and Jeff Mosher. This also included her involvement with Belfast Little League for many years as the Treasurer and being involved in all activities her “boys and daughters” were involved with. Barbara’s love of people and their well-being was intense. Her life was dedicated to making life easier for the unfortunate while loving her family and trying to make life more comfortable for all of those who touched her life. She grew in knowledge and love with each caretaking job she pursued.
Barbara was predeceased by both of her parents; one sibling, Kenneth Estey, her loving daughter Melissa Vosburgh in 1983, stepmother, Donna Estey, second mother Marjorie Butler of Belfast, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends.
Barbara is survived by her loving family: daughter, Kimberly Nardone and her husband Dennis of Swanville; four grandchildren, Blair Johnstone of Belmont, Brooke Johnstone and her partner Dennis Ruel of Windsor, Ryan Johnstone and his partner Amber Rogals of Portland and Tyler Johnstone of Belfast; her siblings, David Estey and his wife Karen of Belfast, Cheryl Gilmore and her husband Kenneth of Newport and Alana Patrick of Ft. Myers, FL; her great-grandchildren were the other loves of her life, and she will miss them dearly: Zachary Bryant of Belfast, Taylor Yeaton of Belmont, Trinity and Jade Haber of Belmont, Roman and Amelia Johnstone of Portland; a step-granddaughter Jasmine Nardone and her children Autumn, Jacob and Chrysta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and friends. She is also survived by a wonderful friend of many years, Jean Lawler of Belfast and many great friends at Belfast Birches; loving friends for many years: Stanley Butler of Belfast, Marian Butler of Monroe and her husband Gary Skigen and their son Patric. Charles Vosburgh and his wife Marileuza of Lee, MA. Barbara wants to thank all of her survivors for being so loving and enriching her life for so many years!
