Obituary of David R. Furbish
WISCASSET
DAVID R. FURBISH, 88 of Wiscasset, died August 1, 2014 at Togus. He was born October 4, 1925 in Topsham, ME, the son of Melvin C. and Bertha M. Wilson Furbish. As Staff Sargent in the Army during WWII, he served as a drill instructor in Georgia. He was a mason. Through his journey he proceeded to become a 32nd degree mason. He worked for many years at the Pejepscot Paper mill as a papermaker. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed all outdoor activities and loved wildlife of all types. He was an accomplished carpenter and “fixer” of anything. He enjoyed old clocks and had many he maintained, repaired and collected. He had eclectic talents that included writing poetry, embroidery, sketching, building and tinkering.
He was predeceased by his wife Anita Nelson Furbish, brother, Melvin Gerard (Bud) Furbish and his parents. He is survived by his sister, Ruth M. Vogel, daughter Penelope “Penny” Ebberts, granddaughter Jennifer K. Ebberts, great grandchildren Kelsea A. Ebberts and Zachary D. Thiboutot. Also by his nephews Randall Furbish and Eric Vogel and many grand-nieces and nephews.
