Obituary of Joy Ann Fearney
JOY ANN (ROWLANDS) FEARNEY of Searsmont, Maine and Dunnellon, Florida passed away to be with her Lord on Friday, August 15 after a battle with cancer. She was born on November 26, 1944, daughter of Harold and Yola (Agugliaro) Rowlands in Rockville Centre, NY; graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast, Maine in 1962 and from the University of Maine at Orono in 1966 with a BS in math. She taught secondary math for 35 years, mostly at North Branford High School in CT, and earned a masters degree and sixth-year degree in administration during those years. She was active in her church participating in music and other ministries. Her children, grandchildren and grand-nephews were a joy to her along with her flower gardens. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Red and loved to sing.
She was predeceased by her parents and a niece, Tracy Rowlands. Joy is survived by her husband, Carroll “Red” Fearney, a daughter Annette Torsak and husband Dale and children Roger and Wyatt Heady of Buchanan, Tennessee; son Charles Stratton and wife Rosa and children Kelley and Andrew of Winthrop, Maine and son Robert Snedeker and wife Linette of Leydon, MA and a brother Roger Rowlands, his wife Brenda along with their son Dean, his wife Melinda and their sons Connor and Colby. She also has two stepdaughters, Renee and daughter Amanda and Kristin and her children Hasiah, Isabella and Elijah.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Chestnut St. Baptist Church in Camden on August 22 at 7 p.m. There will be no viewing or regular funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Crones/Colitis Foundation or the Waldo County Hospice. Arrangements are by Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
