Obituary of James F. Trefethen

ELIOT, Maine — James F. "Jim" Trefethen, 86, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born May 18, 1928, he was the only son of Fred and Eunice Trefethen of Kittery, Maine. He attended Traip Academy and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at the Bowl-O-Rama for 20 years as a mechanic, then at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist until he retired in 1993. Jim was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 444 in Portsmouth. He was conferred with the Honorable Fellowship Degree, attained by few from the Portsmouth Lodge, as well as serving as governer for one year. One of Jim's greatest joys was spending time with family and friends at his camp on Mousam Lake. He enjoyed his daily boat ride around the lake with his best friend, his loving wife, Pat. He is survived by Pat, his wife of 44 years; three daughters, Linda Drost of York, Maine, her husband, Chip, and their son, Cory, Deb Goodwin of Eliot and her daughters, Megan and Katie, and Jamie Charles of Florida, her husband, Kevin, and their children Amanda, Rebecca and Kevin; three sons, Bill Trefethen of Maine and his wife, Emily, and their children Daniel, Christian, Kaylee and Aaron, David Kenney of Eliot, Maine, and his wife, Tara, Glen Kenney of Mountain Home, Idaho, and his wife, Keri, and their son, Matthew; two sisters, Grace Bowlen of Rhode Island and Janet Reynolds of Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Coillibrand. There will be no services at this time. A gathering of friends and family will be announced at a later date.
