Obituary of Suzanne Joy Clowes

SHERBORN MASS. AND CARIBOU, MAINE - Suzanne Joy Clowes, 67, died August 25, 2014 at the Wayland Nursing and Rehab Center after a brief Illness. She was born 11/15/1947, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the daughter of Earle Frederick Clowes and Dora Muriel(Thomas) Clowes.Suzanne attended Caribou schools and graduated Caribou High School class of 1965. In 1967 she graduated from Mount Ida Junior College in Newton Massachusetts. Over time Suzanne obtained several degrees but was most proud of her Masters Degree in Social Work from Simmons College, Boston Massachusetts. Suzanne was a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Early Music Festival. She managed the Scandinavian film program at the Scandinavian Living Center in West Newton. She had worked as a volunteer in the film program at the Museum of Fine Arts and at the West Newton Cinema. She was employed at Arbour Counseling Center in Franklin, Massachusetts and at the maternity unit at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Suzanne enjoyed visiting her Godson and his family in Iceland. She also enjoyed traveling to various places with trips to Alaska, Ireland, France, Italy, Greece, Romania, Eastern Europe and most recently to Morocco where she rode a camel on the edge of the Sahara desert. She loved her pets and all will have fond memories of Jack The Cat.Suzanne is survived by her significant other, Dr. George Hardman of Boston, Massachusetts; brothers, Craig Clowes and wife, Pam of Caribou, Thomas Clowes and wife, Jeanne of Madawaska Lake, Maine, Peter Clowes and wife, Jenny of Gorham, Maine; nieces, Carrie Foster and son, Logan of Baltimore, Maryland, Chelsea Clowes of Madawaska Lake, and Kaitlyn Clowes of Gorham; nephew, Jacob Clowes of Gorham. Suzanne was predeceased by her parents and nephew, Caleb Clowes.At Suzanne's request there will be no services. Committal at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Fairfied, Maine will be at a later date. A concert in her memory will be performed at the Boston Early Music Festival, June 2015.
