Obituary of Michael Paul LeClair

BENTON - Mike P. LeClair "Grumpy," 62, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014, at home surrounded by his family, after battling cancer. He was born in Waterville, Maine, December 8, 1951, the son of Stanley and Jean (Lessard) LeClair. He served four years in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Waterville Adult Ed, receiving his Diploma, in 1988. Mike was an active member in the community. He volunteered two years of his time to be the Director for S.A.D. 49 Special Olympics. He joined the Freemason's on April 19, 1990, and belonged to the Siloam Lodge # 92 of Fairfield, ME. He was also a dual member with Sebasticook Lodge #146 of Clinton, ME. He was District Deputy Grand Master for two years in District #12. Mike joined Eastern Star in September 1990. He was a member of Martha Washington Chapter #15 of Waterville, ME. He was also a dual member with Fireside #103 of Clinton, ME. He served as Worthy Patron for nine years in Martha Washington and for five years in Fireside. In 2002 he served as Worthy Grand Patron with Gretchen Brissette of Presque Isle as his Worthy Grand Matron. He was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth, where he belonged to Faith Court #7 of Waterville, ME. He served as Grand Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth for two years. For five years he was the Chairman of the Board for Waterville Rainbow Assembly # 21. He was an active member of Brown Memorial United Methodist Church of Clinton, ME. He was the Chairman of the Trustees and also participated with the Brown Memorial Players putting on mystery dinner theatre every year. Even while battling his cancer he still participated in the plays. He was also a member of the Clinton Lions Club. Mike started Mike's Oil Service in 1992 as a "one-man show" and ultimately grew it into a multi-truck company with a vision to continue growing into the future. Mike was an active member of the Maine Good Sam Club. He belonged to the Downeasters Chapter, where he was chapter president for four years. In 2014 he was elected as Maine Good Sam Club state director for 2015-2016. Mike is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Sandy LeClair. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters: Leo & Pat LeClair of Winslow, ME., Nancy & Joseph "Fred" Marshall of Oakland, ME., Danny & Janet LeClair of Waterville, ME., Jim LeClair of Waterville, ME., Tina & Ronald Gagnon of Benton, ME., Diana & Rich Combellick of Westbrook, ME. He is also survived by his six kids Patricia LeClair of Albion, ME., Eric Bacon of Sidney, ME., Robert LeClair of Anson, Me., Lisa Kaherl & William "Will" White (Fiancé) of Benton, ME., Jeremy & Denita Kaherl of Oakland, ME. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Sierra, Kyra, Jonathan, Jasmine, Phillip, Elizabeth, Courtney, Jadea, and Kaili. Mike would always say "If I knew grandkids were this much fun, I would have had them first." Thanks to all the nurses at MaineGeneral Medical Center, especially two special angels Jess D. & Shannon. The memorial service will be held at Brown Memorial United Methodist Church 36 Church Street in Clinton, Maine on September 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the church.
