Obituary of Blanche Ferguson Foss

BLANCHE (FERGUSON) FOSS, 72 of Belfast, ME died unexpectedly on September 29, 2014 in Warren, ME. She was born on April 5, 1942 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Prescott and Ethel (Cole) Ferguson. Blanche grew up in Belfast and graduated from Crosby High School, Class of 1960. She graduated both Endicott Junior College and Florida State University. She worked for Connecticut General as an educator. After marrying in Willington, Connecticut, she became a mother of two children whom she dearly loved. While living there, she was very active in the Vernon Garden Club and playing tennis, golf and skiing. In 2010 she was able to call Belfast her permanent home again. Blanche loved walking her dog down by the harbor and collecting sea glass. She became a master gardener and volunteered at the Belfast Garden Club. She also enjoyed traveling, and her passion for the outdoors took her hiking or strolling the beaches throughout the country. Her hobbies included photography, support of local artists and love for sports including being an avid fan of UConn, the Red Sox and FSU. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, going for lobster and showing them her lovely town of Belfast. She is predeceased by her parents. Blanche is survived by her loving children, Lisa Foss of Pinellas Park, FL and Scott Foss of Truckee, CA and their father David Foss of Jay, ME; her special dog Toffee and cat Snoopy; cousins George Ferguson of Franklin, MA, John Ferguson of Foxboro, MA, Linda Lockhart and Edith King of New Minas, NS. Visiting hours will be from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, October 6th at the First Church in Belfast with a funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Grove Cemetery.
