Obituary of Irene Nahme

IRENE NAHME, 74, passed away October 1, 2014 at her residence in Searsport. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on February 2, 1940, daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth (Ickert) Stephan. Irene graduated at the top of her class in 1958 and did an apprenticeship in the masters program for hairstyling and the cosmetic industry. She traveled extensively throughout Europe practicing her profession as a hair stylist. Some of her customers included the Royal Family such as the Duchess of Kent and the Duchess of Worcester. Irene was an avid reader and was very active in her church. She enjoyed knitting, creating stained glass and painting. She was also an excellent cook. Irene enjoyed observing the plentiful wildlife, especially birds. She was a wonderful person who helped any person in need. She loved people, animals and nature. Irene is survived by her husband of 46 years, J. Michael Nahme; her son Peter Robert Nahme and a grandson Daniel Michael Nahme. A memorial service for Irene will be held Sunday October 19th, 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Searsport.
