Obituary of Harold A. Jackson

HAROLD A. JACKSON, JR., 93 of Belfast, died at the local hospital on October 12, 2014. He was born May 27, 1922, the son of the late Harold A. and Mildred (Smith) Jackson Sr. Harold was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Italy and other places. When Harold returned home from the service, he started his own trucking business. He was also in the furniture business for awhile. Harold lived the last few years of his life with his sister, Jessie Rhodes and her husband Milford. While there, Harold thoroughly enjoyed the cats and dogs. When he became ill, he spent the last year and a half at Harbor Hill. Harold is survived by three sisters and two brothers, Donna Way and her husband Lawrence, Mary Benjamin, Jessie Rhodes and her husband Milford, Robert Jackson and his wife Mary, all of Belfast, Hartley Jackson and his wife Deborah of Belmont; sister in law Iva Jackson of Oregon. Harold is also survived by his step-children, William Dawson and his wife Lauri, Richard Dawson and his wife Val, Edward Dawson and his wife Lisa, Laurie Sawyer and her husband Terry, Patricia Dawson, Sue Andreas and her husband Rob, Joan Jackson and her husband Dana, Deborah Jackson and her husband Hartley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Audrey; two sons Ronald A. Jackson and Stephen C. Jackson; four brothers, Olin, Paul, Richard and David; two sisters Dora Jackson Phillips and Judith Jackson Fletcher; a sister-in-law Arlene Jackson; his second wife Pauline; step-son Gary Dawson; step-daughter Mary Dawson. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 24th on the family lot at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Memorial donations in Harold's name may be made to Lighthouse Bible Church, 706 Prospect Street, Searsport, ME 04974. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
