Obituary of Norman Roinestad

1931-2014 WINDSOR - Norman Roinestad, 83, of Windsor - This beautiful soul reunited with the love of his life on October 18, 2014. He was born March 17, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to John Norman and Viota Roinestad. Norman enjoyed 20 years of military service after joining the Navy in 1948. He received many certificates of good conduct and was an expert marksman. Some highlights of his service include time spent in Trinidad and time aboard the USS Essex and was a member of the VP-21. Norm worked at Sears in Augusta, Togus VA and Charlie's Motor Mall. He also belonged to the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge in Augusta and loved helping with the Shrine Circus. Norman was very proud to be a senior ambassador of the Kora Shrine Temple of Lewiston. He was a member of the VFW Post 887 and several other clubs. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia; infant son, John Norman II; brother Verle; and brother-in-law Paul Schoch. Norm is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah Curtis, and husband Mark, of Farmingdale, Linda Roinestad and partner Robert Morrisette, of Windsor and Corinne Christopherson and husband Ronald, of North Dakota; beloved grandchildren, J.J. "T.notes" and special friend Benny, John Roinestad and fiancée Tracy Terrell and their children Dakoda, Lindsey and Lauren, Tricia Healey and partner Joshua Salois, Chad Healey and Sativa, Michael Roinestad, Chester Lint and wife Desiree and their children, Briseis and Xavern; and special grandson Luke Perry; and sister Carol Schoch, of Wisconsin, and her children Julie, Audrey, Pauline and Tony. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat Princess Dammit. Special thanks to the staff at the China Dinah, Applebee's of Augusta and the Red Bar. The family would also like to thank CCU at Maine Medical Center in Portland. In lieu of flowers, Norman would like donations made to Shriners' Hospitals for Children in Springfield, Mass. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
