Obituary of Robert F. Brewer

ROBERT F. BREWER, 60, passed away with his wife and two sons by his side on November 14, 2014 at Mars Hill Health Center. Robert was born on July 13, 1954 in Mars Hill, Maine, the son of George and Marjorie Brewer of Bridgewater. Rob will be remembered for his great personality and woodsmanship. He treated everyone as his friend until they proved otherwise. Rob was a fine woodsman and loved the open spaces and solidarity of the big woods. In Rob’s early career, he was in the potato barrel manufacturing business and as a “cooper” made an excellent potato barrel with great speed and quality. Rob later worked as a “chopper” for several woods contractors in the area. He was proud to say that he had “felled” some of the largest trees to come out of the North Maine woods and had the pictures to prove it. Rob ran his own skidder operation for a number of years until the harsh Maine winters took its toll on his body. He later finished his career working the great outdoors for various farmers in the area. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn (McKeen) Brewer; sons Jason A. Brewer and his wife Danielle of Easton and Brennan R. Brewer and his wife Elizabeth of Mars Hill; five wonderful grandchildren whom he loved very much, Megan, Hailey and Lilly Brewer of Mars Hill and Kassidy and Trey Brewer of Easton; three brothers, Mark Brewer, William Brewer and wife Janet, Rodney Brewer and wife Shelly all of Bridgewater; several nieces and nephews; three special brothers-in-law, Kevin McKeen and wife Carla of Bridgewater, Garry McKeen and wife Myrna of Presque Isle and Brent McKeen and wife Barbara of Mars Hill. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22nd at the home of Brennan and Elizabeth Brewer, 195 West Ridge Road, Mars Hill. Burial will take place at Smith Cemetery in Bridgewater in the spring. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
