Obituary of Michael James DiGioia
Michael J. DiGioia, of Belfast, Maine, died peacefully on December 24, 2014, following a stroke at age 70. Michael earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Rhode Island. After working as an engineer for G.E. in Schenectady, N.Y., he left the engineering field and became an independent contractor in R.I. and later Maine. Michael loved to paint and draw, was an avid history buff, and had a remarkable recall of baseball statistics, remembering details of specific games that took place 50 years earlier.
He is survived by one son, Matthew, and was predeceased by his son, Joseph. He is also survived by five siblings -- Sandra Williamson, John DiGioia, Marianne DiGioia, Anthony DiGioia, and Cathy Schulbaum -- and was preceded in death by an older sister, Terry DiGioia.
Visitation hours will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29 at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast and a funeral service will be held at St. Francis Church in Belfast on Tuesday, December 30 at 11 a.m.
