Obituary of Marion E Lamon

Marion Elizabeth Lamon (Collins) died January 26, 2015 in Augusta, Maine at 101. She was born in Saranac Lake, New York to Lyman Milo and Maud Stella Collins. Marion traveled the world where her husband’s job with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service took them. She lived for many years in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Marion was a “life-long learner”. She was an excellent homemaker and always put her family first. She was proficient in handwork that included sewing, quilting and crocheting. As a child, she worked in a“cure cottage” for TB patients in Saranac Lake where they were known for the “fresh air cure”. When her husband was serving in the Pacific during WWII she worked in her sister, Edna’s, nursing home.Marion was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a role model for right living and integrity. Marion is survived by her son Robert L. Lamon of Longview, Texas; her daughter, Stephanie Eve Harkness and son-in-law James A. Harkness of Winthrop, Maine; her sister, Edna O. Murray and niece Penny Sarantakis of Sequim, Washington; a cousin by marriage and loyal friend, Melba Kundly of Arlington, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Lamon; a brother, Charles Collins and two sisters, Mildred Cassavaugh and infant sister Juanita Alva Collins. Marion will be cremated at Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast, ME and her ashes interred with her husband at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
