Obituary of Lillian Houston
Lillian Verna (Bragg) Houston, 93, of Belfast, passed away quietly Jan. 27, 2015. She was born in West Sebois on Aug. 5, 1921, to Ancil and Abbie (Alley) Bragg.
Lillian spent most of her childhood growing up in Belfast. She graduated from Crosby High School, class of 1939, then attended the state Normal School in Gorham for one year before enlisting in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp. After her enlistment, Lillian returned to Maine, where she met her future husband, Richard Freeman Houston, in Bangor where they married July 21, 1945.
Lillian enjoyed playing Parcheesi and cribbage with anyone who would stop for a game. Her passion was or reading, which she enjoyed right up until she became ill.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Richard, her brothers Ray and Charlie.
She is survived by her sister, Hazel Malcolm; children, Michael M. Houston and wife Jeanie, Katherine H. Lindelof and husband Eric, Tracy A. Houston and partner Chloe Nye, as well as four grandsons she was very proud of.
A celebration of Lillian’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
Celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m. June 4th at the Boathouse in Belfast.
